Lavender Distillation
A favorite in-house process at the farm is our lavender distillation. It yields our all-natural lavender product, Lavender Hydrosol, also known as floral water, which as a crystal-clear, all-purpose spray comes from the steam distillation of flowers from the farm. The by-product is far less concentrated than essential oil, but touts many of the same benefits. (Availability is limited.)
Another customer favorite that is a product of our distillation is our Dream On Pillow Spray, which is just as it sounds, a dreamy addition to your nightly routine.
Lavender hydrosol serves as a facial toner, 100% pure antiseptic, insect repellent, skin soother, and more. Again, its benefits are similar to lavender essential oil, but more easily disseminated in a distilled, spray form.
Golden liquid floating to top is lavender essential oil; lavender hydrosol settles to the bottom of the jar.
We found this description the most apt:
"Hydrosols contain all of the essence of the plant in every drop, just like essential oils but in a milder form, making them suitable for all manner of applications where essential oils would be too strong."
Read more here about the hydrosol process.
Our lavender distillation is directly from lavender grown right here at the farm.

What does the facial toner smell like?
The scent varies from bottle to bottle. Like wine or honey, the essence is in the timing of the harvest.
At different times in the lavender plant growing process, the earthy fragrance can be sweet or grassy, or it can have a honey scent. Customers have even noted when testing in the shop: that it can almost smell buttery! It all depends on the oil content of the lavender derived during the process. The earlier we collect the hydrosol, the more potent it can be. The later we collect, the more floral the fragrance.
